Mrs Clelland gives two - \nepisodes of very acute urticarial eruption involving the trunk and limbs, not associated however with \n\"lip or tongue swelling. She herself is unaware of any trigger factor. She also describes a recurrent \nrash on her thighs although there is no current rash present. Her general health is reasonable, she has \nlost over four stones in weight in the past few months. There is no history of atopy and she is not on \nany roptine medication. - \n\/ \nOn examination there is certainly some post inflammatory staining on the limbs where the rash was \nbut otherwise there are no changes. t \nI have suggested to Mrs Clelland that if her eruption flares then it would be most appropriate if we . \ncould see her at that point, prior to embarking on any investigations. I wondered if she might be \nexperiencing an urticarial vasculitis rather than a straight forward urticaria but I do not have the \nimpression that patch testing would be helpful at this point and I would be doubtful whether RAST \ntesting would be helpful in view of us having no fixed ideas on any particular positive factor. I have \ntherefore suggested to Mrs Clelland that should her eruption flare she should get in'touch with you \nand if you let us know we would be happy 1o fit her in at a clinic, \nYours sincerely
