A brief outline of history, symptoms and \u00a7igns is given below: \nMM I would appreciate your assessment of this 38 year old woman who became \nunwell whilst on holiddy in August, with a pyrexial illness, sore throat, \ncough and shortness of breath, and since this time she has complained of lack \nof energy and general weakness and persistent cough with breathlessness on \nslightest exertion. When she was first seen on 12th August, an ESR was \nreported as 106. This was repeated on 23\/08\/93 when it was down to 54. \nVirology reported a rising titre to Chlamydia and further virology on 31\/08\/93 \nagain suggested exposure to Chlamydia psittaci and this was confirmed with \na further virology on 01\/09\/93, the IgG titre being 128. I prescribed a. \ncourse of Tetracycline 250mgs 4 times daily for two weeks on 30\/08\/93. She \nhas continued to feel tired all the time with breathlessness and cough. I \ncarried out a chest x-ray on 21\/09\/93 and this was reported as being normal. \nShe does have a history of exposure to budgerigars in that about a year ago \nwhen her husband became unwell (Mr. George Clelland who I believe has been \nattending you) and he was advised to get rid of his aviary, for a short while \nMrs. Clelland took care of the birds. There has been no recent exposure. \nHer ESR remains elevated at 37 on 12\/10\/93. In view of the persistence of \nher symptoms I would appreciate your assessment of her and advice on how best \nto manage her. \nOther routine bloods were within the normal range, that is Biochem. Screen, \nRandom Blood Sugar and Thyroid Function Test.
