Location ) Date Received: \nDrR E | KERR - Dermatology, Stobhill 27\/10\/99 \nHistopathology Report \nClinical History: A flare of rash on extensors, 'mainly elbows, associated swelling of eyes. \nErythematous, urticarial rash, settles with staining ? urticarial vasculitis ? en.. \nPunch Biopsy of Left Elbow \nGross: A circle of skin. \nMicro: The most striking feature i$ the presence of an intense deeply vascular [ymphocytic infiltrate \nwithin the superficial dermis. Within the vessels there are also frequent marginated polymorph \nneutrophils. In addition there is a mild degree of oedema within-the superficial dermis and there is a \nvariable but in areas moderately intense infiltrate at the epidermoid junction with accompanying \nspongiosis and exocytosis of Iymphocytes into the basal layers of the epidermis. There is no \nsignificant migration into the upper epldermls which is notable that there is no keratotic or \nparakeratotic scales. \nOverall these appearances are in keeping with a vasculopathic reaction pattern and as the clinical \nhistory suggests is more in keeping with an urticarial vasculitis rather than a pityriasiform eruption. \n\u2018However these findings should be interpreted in the context of the clinical findings. \n) \nWA \nReported by: .
